Volunteers are always welcome!!  We have a very small staff and lots of animals to care for.  Volunteers under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent for safety reasons.    Volunteers perform a wide variety of tasks at the shelter, such as cleaning cages, office work, walking dogs or socializing shy cats, helping out with fundriaisers, adoption events or other special projects, and helping us keep the animals' pictures updated online so that they can find homes.  Email [email protected] for more information on volunteering or other ways you can help out.

Thank you for your interest in our foster program.  We need foster homes for infant animals that require bottle feeding and extra care, nursing mothers and their babies who need a quiet place to grow up and socialize, injured animals requiring a little TLC while they recover, sick animals who need a little TLC while they recover, shy animals who need some extra attention to socialize, and other at-risk animals.  Our shelter is not very big, but we take in a LOT of animals.  Fostering an animal helps not only that animal, but another animal at the shelter who needs the space to find a home and can be a very rewarding experience for you and your family.  For more information on fostering, email [email protected].

Helping People Help Their Pets AND Themselves Is What We Do...
Join us as we work together with local law enforcement, child protective services, adult protective services and local women's shelters to start a foster care program to assist victims of domestic violence.  We are seeking fosters for animals belonging to victims of domestic violence, to help keep these pets with their families.  Foster homes are needed to care for these animals while their owners seek shelter, medical treatment, counseling, or while they get back on their feet after leaving their abusers.  To learn more, contact the shelter at (210) 661-4063 or email [email protected]
